The Philippines, an island nation of 113.9 million in Southeast Asia, has laid out a plan to accelerate poverty reduction. By 2028 President Ferdinand Marcos Jr aims to decrease the national poverty rate to 9% as his presidential term ends.

Existing as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) individual is no easy feat. The wave of accomplishments in the 2010s with marriage equality and increased representation is being threatened by increasingly punitive policies.
